Angel 6.0: Emissary (Angel 6.0 #5)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This has been a fun ride with a girl who turns out to be more human than those around her. Even with the last book ending on an exciting note, this one starts a little less dramatically. Things were a little slow for me to start-up with but picked up quickly and moved us into the action I had been anticipating. The characters were even more vivid here as things started to come to a head for both humans and cats. The language was what I expected from this group of characters including the cats who seemed to have a very human temperament at times. The world they inhabited could be now or a hundred years from now because the human way of thinking does not seem to have changed from the beginning of time.

Angel has had a hard time since she was taken by the Gran and used as a concubine from Nugene Station. But things had started to get better with the Emperor’s son taking such a liking to her that he wished to keep her as his mate, and having Cesar actually come for her and try to free her. What more could a girl ask for? But for Angel life is never fair or simple. The DC decide that this is the time they wish to launch an attack on the Gran and break the treaty that has kept Earth safe for decades. Not very smart, but who said human politicians were smart.

Because of her status as Princess of the Gran Empire Angel is chosen by the Emperor to be Emissary to Earth and help avert a war that could wipe out both races. What’s a clone to do when she becomes the only hope for humanity and the Cats.

This one had me sitting on the edge of my seat hoping for the best but totally afraid that the worse would happen. Angel started out as a bit whiny, and naive but thirsty for true love. She ends by being an extremely strong and loyal woman who fights for those she loves with every ounce of passion in her heart, this is a girl I can get behind. I liked that she had this journey that opened her to the world. I did get teary quite a few times, cheered her on, and in general was glad things worked out the way they did. If you like Angel, you will love her by the end of this. Highly recommend!

Angel 6.0: Pursuit

Angel 6.0: Pursuit (Angel 6.0 #4)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was another great entry in the life of a girl who cannot seem to catch a break no matter what her situation. The story continues to build on itself bringing more and more complexity to the characters and to the world that they are living in. The tone can be fun and light at times making you laugh or just smile,it can then become dark, or very hot. I like the way it flows from situation to situation with surprises laid out as things progress.

Angel is less than thrilled to be returning to Gran space, though she is happy to see her royal friends on her return. What she finds is that in the short time she has been away Prince Rollick has grown and is moving out of his adolescence, and has decided that he wants Angel as more than a friend. She has decided to play matchmaker for two people who she is fond of and would like to see happy. But this is Angel and no matter what she does the universe seems to be against her ever finding a moment of happiness.

I have said it before and will say it again, this is a really great series! I love the fact that the characters continue to evolve both emotionally and intellectually. The heat level is high but does not interfere with the story and keeps me wanting more. I want to know what happens to Angel because I have come to really her, she feels what every woman feels over their lives at one point or another, that they are too different to be loved or nothing more than a freak. I am looking forward to the next installment!!

Angel 6.0: Enslaved

Angel 6.0: Salvage (Angel 6.0 #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I received a free advance reading copy for my honest review. This was a great adventure with a girl that I am coming to like more and more. I had thought of Angel as childlike, which she was when this started, but she is maturing the more she is exposed to the world outside of Nugene. I like that the characters are becoming more clearly drawn as things go forward from book to book. The world they inhabit is more complex than you would at first think, but as you jet across the galaxy you see that not only the humans have a strange culture happening the Gran have their own way of viewing the world that may seem different but is actually quite similar to human culture in many respects. Everything is continuing to move forward smoothly giving a great trip through the cosmos as well as into how Angel is able to survive.

Captain Cronin comes for Angel on Cesar’s ship and is not planning on leaving her behind. Angel has had nice respite from dealing with overbearing Cat but has no choice but to return to him if she wants Cesar and his men to live. Before they depart Angel helps Cesar set up negotiations for trade and gives herself another chance to see him. Then it is the long ride to the Gran home world she must endure as Cronin continues to use her.

The Emperor and Empress are very impressed with Angel and invite her to stay with them while she is on their home world, keeping her away from the depraved Cronin. She becomes close to both their daughter and son who make her separation from Cesar at least bearable. But then she is once again on the ship for the trip for the negotiations and though she looks forward to seeing her man she still must deal with the insatiable Cat on the journey. Angel has endured a great deal since being taken from her home, how much more will she need to endure.

Angel has become a strong character who is able to work through whatever is tossed her way. The sex is usually very hot, whether inter species or just straight. The story pulls you in every time because you really have to find out what is going to happen with this woman as her intergalactic odyssey continues. It just keeps getting better and better. Do not miss this series!

**The title of the book  on Amazon is Angel 6.0: Enslaved, the title was changed after the I received my copy.

Angel 6.0: Escape (Angel 6.0 #2)

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

This stepped it up and I am going 4.5 stars for this second entry in the tale of Angel and her adventures across the galaxy. Once again I was pulled into the story right from the start. The story is progressing and giving us more situations that Angel has to deal with. She grows during her journey, though she remains somewhat childlike in her thinking you can see the analytical side of her too. The new characters are somewhat interesting but could use a little more chance to be fleshed out.

Angel has settled into life on the Gran ship and is happy as long as she has Jason, the other prisoner who has a personality worth dealing with. Though she is being used by the Captain on the ship, it is not so bad because he knows what she is. She worries she will lose Jason if and when he finds out.

Jason said they would be rescued and he was right, in a way. When the rescue comes things do not go to plan for the rescuers and they find themselves with a passenger that they had not planned on. Once again Angel finds herself among strangers who hold her life in their hands. The thing is, does she even want to continue on.

The story deepens and Angel is still evolving and becoming more complex. The heat level drops a little but only because our girl is dealing with some issues that keep coming back to plague her. If there were not some complications it would not be nearly so worth reading.

Once again I highly recommend!

Angel 6.0: Concubine (Angel 6.0 #1)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I was totally not prepared for this in the least. I have read this author before, and loved the other series but was not sure about a space opera. Well, I can say that I have been pleasantly surprised because I found myself liking this from the moment I started reading. I had a feel for the side characters fairly quickly and thought I understood the main character well also. The story flowed perfectly and gave a sense of where it was going to be taking you as it continued. The language seemed appropriate for each character and conveyed who they were.

Angel is different from all those on Nugene Station and she knows that better than anyone. She is an experiment but she is also more to the man she views as her father. The Gran area race of Cat warrior/flesh traders who come to Nugene for bodies to use in their trade.

Angel has been hidden from the Gran on their visits to the station, but in one fateful miscalculation they see her and decide that they must have her to add to their stock of human workers. That one glimpse causes Angel’s world to spin out of control and she finds herself on an adventure she would not have chosen.

Angel seems almost childlike at first, like even though she has the body of a woman she has not really matured. Then you get to see that she is just emotionally open to everything and everyone. I like her for the strength she has and the vulnerability. I can see her growing and becoming a powerful force. I will be continuing to read to find out. Oh yeah, and the sex is so hot it almost melts your device! 🙂 I recommend this highly!

Blood Slave

Blood Slave (The Nightlife)

Blood Slave (The Nightlife)

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
This was a great read and took me away within the the first few sentences. The characters are fleshed out and vivid giving you a feeling for who they are and what you can expect from them. The language is straight forward and descriptive allowing you to visualize each situation and location. I could relate to all the characters, even those who were not necessarily human because they had personalities like people I had known at one time or another.

The book is about a woman named Esperanza Salvación or as she prefers to be called Hope. Her life in Bogotá Colombia was not an easy one and did not get any better after her arrival in New York. She is also telepathic which can make her useful to anyone who needs information. She is an escort who is tied to the Colombian cartel and unable to get out because of a debt she has with the representative there. Things are not so bad until a client, who is more than human realizes that there is something about Hope that could be dangerous for them. This places her in a world she had no idea existed and she soon finds herself a blood slave, addicted to the bite of a vampire and unable to get away because of it. Her life becomes both a blessing and curse, just another thing she will have to survive.

I liked Hope because she was a survivor and even after years of abuse she still has dreams for the future. She comes across as hard and capable but she has a soft side that she keeps hidden. Enrique de la Riguera is a Spaniard who does not wish to kill Hope and so instead brings her into his family much to the chagrin of his servant Lia, a woman he once loved and turned. While Enrique is a benevolent sort he is blind to many things. Lia on the other hand is a psycho and wants nothing more than to rid herself of Hope. How things play out makes for a fun ride.

This story is SEXY, sad, brutal, and heart breaking in equal measures. But if you are squeamish when it comes to battery of women or menage then you should maybe take a pass. Otherwise enjoy this tale of the Blood Slave, it is well worth the time!

The Nightlife New York

The Nightlife: New York (The Nightlife, #1)

The Nightlife: New York (The Nightlife #1)

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
When I started reading this I was not sure what to expect. All I knew for sure was that it was going to involve Vampires and I love Vampires. Well, after reading it through I can say without a doubt that I really, really liked this. It didn’t snatch me into the story but drew me in slowly as I started to get an idea about the characters and what they were like. I like this this new style vampire who are part of the world and not at the same time. This was a getting to know you kind of thing for me and the story was just what I would have wanted to get me in the right place.

Aaron Pilan is a nineteen year old who seems to be drifting through life, working as a waiter and hanging out with his friends. Then one night he happens upon a beautiful woman being hassled by the police and tries to step in to help, not a good idea. The lady can take care of herself and he gets a hole in his chest for his trouble. Michelle is beautiful, french, and a vampire, she is also alone. When she sees the boy shot she takes him with her and tries to help, but the only thing she can do is make him like her. What ensues is a story of two people, one already in love and another who does not believe it is possible for her to love.

I liked Michelle even though she seemed a bit psychotic at first, the reasons were justified for all the actions she took. Aaron has his own issues but is like any boy of his age you might meet, an attractive woman can make things seem just fine.I think I would have liked to see him more anguished or even angry about becoming a vampire but that was just a small thing. Overall I enjoyed the story so much that one thing could not detract from the rest. It didn’t hurt that they had some great chemistry as well. 🙂

I will definitely be reading the next installment because I think there is a lot more to both of them and I want to see it unfold. This offers hot romance, corrupt police, and a flawed vampire. This is well worth the read and once you start I think you will not put it down until the final page has been turned.
