I am looking forward to reading this last in the trilogy. I love the Cavaliers! They are truly a special breed of vampire. Enjoy the first two, then come back for this.

Moon Dance

Moon Dance (Vampire for Hire #1)
Samantha Moon was your ordinary wife and mother who had a job in a government agency. She was attacked and when she recovers from her injuries discovers that her life has been changed forever. She has become a vampire and has to adapt this new life to her old one, which means changing jobs as well as being a much more tired mom since she must forego regular sleep in order to be awake during the day for her children. Samantha has become a very good private investigator in demand because she closes cases using her new abilities and her government connections. Her life seems normal on the surface but things are not as good at home as she could hope them to be.
Samantha is hired to find the person who attempted to kill Kingsley Fulcrum, a defense attorney who is maybe to good at his job. He was attacked and shot multiple times but survived and now wants to know who did it and why. If anyone can find out it is Sam.
I felt sorry for Sam because she was turned against her will and it made her life so much more difficult. Their was not a lot of action but for a get to know you story it was just right. Light romantic moments, introspection, a nasty husband, and a hot werewolf. Worth reading and worth following her continued story.
“I surveyed the others, who had all stopped in their tracks. “So what was the plan, boys? You were all going to get a fuck in? The very definition of sloppy seconds – hell, sloppy thirds and fourths and fifths. Than what? Slit my throat? Leave me for dead? Let some school janitor find me stuffed in a dumpster? You would deny my children their mother for one night of cheap thrills?”

Rosetta

Rosetta
James Meade is a runabout who was born on Mars, this means that he does not bother himself with the politics of either power running things. In this case there is the Consortium, a fascist society that uses its citizens as virtual slaves based on whether they are born into wealth or not, and it is impossible to gain wealth if you are not born to it. The other side is the Coalition who claim to be better and allow for a democratic society, while you can pull yourself up to a higher standard before you can get there you must pay off the crushing debt you have been forced into. This is the world Jim lives in and still is unable to get away from.
When a Consortium engineer is found dead on Rosetta it is decided that Jim will do the investigation because of his neutrality. He is not given much of a choice in the matter and decides that if he has to do it he might as well get paid as much as possible. He figures it will be a simple job with little work involved and a good payday, but he has no idea of what is going on that asteroid far out in the belt. And what he does not know will likely get him killed.
For some reason Meade reminded me of Harry Dresden, not just because they were both P.I.’s but the way he dressed and the use of sarcasm and humor. This is a detective story in space with a noir feel. You have the female bar owner with a heart of gold, the femme fatale, the crime bosses, the crazy zealot wanting to save the world, and our detective who is less and more of hero than you expect him to be. All in all a good read but could have been even better with a more serious mystery.
The Den

The Den (Vampire’s Witch Saga #1)
Skyla Jane Judge is a girl who has drifted through life with no real goals, feeling different from all those around her. She has always had strange abilities that she used sparingly because she was told that they were a curse by her mother. They said she was a witch. Just before graduating from college a psychic tells her something that could change her life forever and she is not surprised. When she and her friend move to New York she is still drifting, then she meets Alex and starts on an adventure which will find her in a new city, with new people who claim to know her and seem to want more than she may be willing to give.
Skyla was a character who I wanted to like but she was so drab and seemed to allow life to happen to her instead of really living. She finally grows a backbone at the end, or so it seems, but it is a bit late to really redeem her. Alex is mysterious but still transparent to the reader, you know exactly what he is about from the moment they meet and remains so. The rest of the characters are just background noise with no substance at this point.
I am debating with myself whether to try the next book and see if things start to pick up since it was left on a cliff hanger. I wouldn’t say don’t read this but go in knowing that the action is weak, the heat is lukewarm, and the characters are a bit annoying.
Don’t Even Think About It

Don’t Even Think About It
I give this 4.5 stars because I was really drawn into this tale of high school students. This was a light, fun romp with a group of kids who were actually not totally annoying. When you start a book and find out you are going back to high school I think the first thought is that here come the stereotypes, not so here. While you do have a few, mostly what you have are a group of kids who seem like any others you may have known growing up. The characters seem real and act and talk like you would expect kids to and the adults are a bit broad but are realistic in their parenting. The story seems to fly by as you move from chapter to chapter not letting you slow down for a minute. I will not call it fast paced but it definitely moves right along taking you on an interesting ride. The characters are well thought out and have personalities and quirks which define them as individuals, making it easy to like them or not depending on how they act.
Olivia was one of favorites because I like her was a bit of a hypochondriac when I was younger. She is shy to the point of being invisible but you just know that there is a lot more to her. I also really liked Mackenzie because she was not really a bad girl like everyone thought but just confused about who she was and what she wanted. The person who was least likable would be Pi, everyone hates that girl or boy who thinks they are superior to everyone else, and Pi has that in spades.
Everything changed for the students of home room 10B on October 2 when something strange happened to them without warning. The kids go in for a simple inoculation and emerge with more than just a resistance to the flu. The kids end up with an ability which at first scares them but then starts to be useful for their everyday lives, but as these things usually do it causes trouble for all. What they finally do is the right thing for them and maybe for others, but that will come later.
This was the kind of story that anyone can read without feeling bad. The story is cute and the kids are all nice in their own way and make for a fun time.
A Bit of Bite

A Bit of Bite
Sheriff Ava Dushaine was assigned to Crossroads, Mississippi as the paranormal liaison in the area. When the paranormal community made themselves known 10 years ago they were assigned areas within the states that they could reside in, this usually had both werewolves and vampires living in close proximity to each other. The people of the towns close to them are wary and feel that they are in danger from the having the supernatural so close to them, and someone is stoking that fear even higher.
With three murders of humans in a short period and the bodies being found on the land between the paranormal land Ava has to solve this quickly. When the Alpha, Julian Kasey, shows up at the murder scene she has no choice but to take him in for questioning. What she doesn’t realize is that things are more complicated than she would have ever thought and her life may hang in the balance.
This was an exciting story about what a person will do in order to gain what they want and who they will sacrifice for that goal. It is also about gaining love even in the midst of bad things. Definitely worth reading and giving you a taste of what you can look forward to in the future.
Annihilate Me

Annihilate Me Vol. 1 (Annihilate Me #1)
Jennifer and Lisa have moved from Bangor, Maine to New York after graduating college four months ago. Lisa is a budding writer whose first book on Amazon has done very well, she is self-published, and is currently working on her second book. Jennifer graduated with her MBA in business and is hoping to land her dream job so she does not have to return home, but things are looking a bit dismal. After four months of interviews Jennifer is no closer to a job than when they arrived and her money is starting to run out, she hates that Lisa is more or less having to support them both. She has one more interview coming up and hopes that this will be her break, if not she is going to have to come up with another plan.
When she arrives for her interview the woman interviewing her is less than professional, she wants to know why someone with her qualifications would want a secretarial job and dismisses her without a thought. Jennifer is upset and while trying to hold it together in the elevator meets a man and pours out her dislike for the interviewer to him thinking she will never see him again. To her surprise she gets called back by the hateful woman for an interview with the owner of Wenn Enterprises. She has no idea what is coming but the job is not what she thinks it is and is going to change her life.
This is more than just an erotic story or even a simple romance story. It’s about two people who have been damaged in ways that neither has been able to deal with alone. This story has moments of fun, glamour, sweetness, sorrow, paranoia, and true friendship. It was a nice beginning in the story of two people from different worlds who are going to try to meld those worlds to create something richer for them both. I would highly recommend this!
Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs

Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs (Jane Jameson #1)
Jane Jameson is a librarian who has always loved her job and done it well, then for no reason she no longer is employed. Depressed she heads out to drown her sorrows at a bar and while doing this runs into an interesting man, Gabriel, who actually can talk books and proceeds to drink the hurt away. When she leaves the bar Gabriel walks her to her car and she leaves for home, but unfortunately never makes it there. Three days later she wakes to find that everything in her life has changed and she is in a strange house. Now not only is she unemployed she is a vampire, and lucky for her they have come out of the closet. She is also lucky that her sire is one sexy man.
For Jane however nothing ever goes smoothly. All she wants to do is get on with her new existence but someone seems to have other plans for her. Jane finds herself the target of gossip in the community and the target of a murder investigation only days after being born into the life. She is being stalked by someone who wants her out-of-the-way and she does not know who would want to harm her or those she loves.
I really liked this and Jane in particular, she was sarcastic, pushy, sympathetic and a world of things in between. I listened to this and think it lent more to the story because of the narration of Amanda Ronconi who gave life to the characters in such a wonderful way. If you are looking for a good story, with lively and fun characters then this is the place to go.
Mistworld

Mistworld (Twilight of the Empire #1)
Mistworld is an outlaw planet, most notably because it’s inhabitants have been labeled as outlaws by the Empire which expects strict loyalty and compliance from its citizens. On this harsh world they have no way to get the technology they need to survive except through the prowess of smugglers who are willing to crash the blockade which has been set by the Empire. The inhabitants have held off the Empire for hundreds of years, but that does not stop the Empire from plotting to attack when conditions are ripe. The only thing holding back the Empire is the psionic shield which is kept in place by the Espers who reside on the planet, but are they really enough.
The women here are as strong as the men and survive on that strength and not just on their need to be taken care of. I liked that these were women who knew how to fend for themselves no matter which side of the law they were on. I would say that I liked Investigator Topaz because was a serious kick-ass female who did what needed to be done and let the rest sort itself out and then you had Cyder who was able to survive in a world that could take down the strongest man.
What you find here is a lot of intrigue, double-dealing, spies, murder, betrayal, and revenge. My type of science fiction with a world in peril and brave settlers and an evil tyrant trying to take it all away. What’s not to like. Give this a read!
Keep Me Ghosted

Keep Me Ghosted (Sophie Rhodes Ghostly Romance #1)
Sophie has been looking for job and she has a friend who keeps making things more difficult for her, this friend just happens to be a ghost and her best friend. When she goes to her latest interview the interviewer has a similar friend who does not seem inclined to share him, even with an employee. There is something not quite right about the ghost that has attached itself to Cal, Sophie’s new boss, and she starts to look into it as things start to escalate in the office. Falling for your boss is bad but falling for your boss when he has a psycho ghost is even worse and she needs to find a way to put her to rest before she causes serious harm to someone.
I liked the fact that I there were some serious moments but that there were also moments that gave me a chuckle here and there. Sophie’s ghost friend Marmaduke was a treasure, both a good friend and protector who just wanted Sophie to be happy. You get some light romance, a bit of paranormal activity, some ghostly angst, and mystery. Very enjoyable and most would probably find it so.
