Bronco

Summer Camile Sellers, once wealthy, has lost everything due to others’ arrogance. Her life, now a prolonged nightmare, finds solace only in her horse, Aria, and the hope of rebuilding. At 22, Summer faces her first job unprepared, journeying to Springhill Ranch in Colorado, clinging to hope for a better future.

My feelings towards Summer are mixed; her arrogance is evident, yet she acknowledges the need for humility. Nonetheless, she is a compelling character, capable of growth, which I appreciate.

Jake Lawson, the quintessential cowboy, has little patience for city dwellers but makes an exception for Summer, the attractive newcomer at the ranch. Both harbor secrets; Jake’s are closely guarded, yet Summer prompts him to contemplate a future he’s never considered—one with her alone. His uncertainty about her feelings, however, remains a barrier.

I was drawn to Jake immediately, perhaps due to his upright nature or simply my fondness for cowboys.

The sexual tension between them was palpable from the outset, escalating to a crescendo that was timely yet not premature. Their story is a tender tale of two individuals scarred by their pasts, who never envisioned finding a kindred spirit, yet they did in each other. While Contemporary Romance isn’t always my preference, this story captivated me, leaving me curious about their future—a testament to its impact.

Love the St. Martin family Saga! The stories are all self-contained but still allow for the cameo appearance of others from previous books. You get a heads up on who the next story will be about with the introduction of another family member who may have been mentioned but never seen before. The sex scenes are hot without being trashy and definitely heat up the page. The characters are worth getting to know because they feel right and make you want to know them better. The setting is contemporary and so you can feel even more a part of things since you are looking at your reality more or less.

Campbell Lee St. Martin is a millionaire businessman who has grown bored with vanilla sex. He doesn’t want BDSM but a little lust and aggression that is sorely missing. Camp is engaged to Kim, a very repressed young woman, but because he has been divorced before he does want to admit defeat once again.

Along comes Jenny who is nothing like Kim. While he is totally taken with her he cannot decide whether he wants to kill her or date her. Jenny has had a hard life and decided that a permanent man in her life is something she does not need. But once Campbell has set his mind to something or someone, he intends to succeed.

A nice hot and sweet story with a perfect ending.

“My parents had pushed me to accept your engagement. I thought I could learn to be all the things that you wanted, but your… your raw sexuality scares me. You deserve to be with someone who can satisfy your desire. I love you as a sister loves a brother. Let’s not be sad about this. It wasn’t meant to happen for us.”

Naughty Christmas Eve

Naughty Christmas Eve
(Eve #1)
by Olivia Rigal

I liked this until the end where it just ended abruptly with no further explanation. The characters were three dimensional and had a life that seemed good. The background characters were not well defined in this book but maybe will be later. The only location to get any real description was the courthouse in Paris but the locations were secondary to everything else anyway. The writing was sometimes a bit awkward but smoothed out mostly, except for that ending.

Eve Stevens lives and works in Paris as an attorney. Her main focus had been helping other Americans moving or living there with things like finding homes, or other personal things. She takes a divorce case from a young couple that is simple and amicable, and later finds herself handling divorce cases almost exclusively. She wants to stop and with her vacation to Florida coming up she makes the one she is on her last.

Guillaume De La Landrerie is a Corporate attorney who happens to be in the family court and spots Eve. He is there to help out his ex-wife, though Eve thinks differently, and decides he must get to know the beautiful lawyer. But that will have to wait because he is on his way to Florida on business and so will have to look her up when he returns.

I was totally into the story, though the sex was only luke warm, and could not wait to see where it was heading. Turns out it was heading nowhere because the story just ended, no noticeable cliff hanger or anything, just done. I really hated the ending! I went to try and find the last two books and am not able to find them anywhere at any book seller, so I cannot even finish it. Though I guess I know where it was headed just not who she chose. The sex is responsible however, I am always happy to see condom use when the people have just met.

This was a really nice read for me. Each time I read something from this author it seems that she has found a way to make me happy with a straight romance. The development of the characters is nice because it is gradual and not thrown at you in a lump. The character of Deborah is a little less clear than some of the others but that may be because I was trying to figure out why she would be the way she was. The book is well organized and flows perfectly because of the fact that the chapters are broken up into the voices of the mains as it goes forward. The language can seem a bit awkward sometimes but it still works to keep you interested in who these people are and where they come from.

Deborah Klein grew up in the foster care system and has finally formed a family of the kids she met within it. Aidan Price was born with everything a person could desire but has never been content or found happiness. Both have been damaged emotionally by their experiences growing up and cannot connect fully with those around them.

Deborah pulled herself up and is now a financial adviser in a prestigious firm and on track to be made a partner. Aidan is a playboy who has more money than sense and is being pushed by a sister who loves him to think about the future. These two come together at a time that is stressful for Deborah and gives Aidan a reason to care about something other than pleasure and oblivion. Can two so different people really find happiness?

I found that I liked that the sex they had here was ‘safe sex’, it is not often that you have a mention of a condom being used in any book. This was a good thing to have pop up and can remind you what should be done. I enjoyed this because there was a little danger, hurt feelings, remorse, and greed to stand between them all. I really wanted this to go on a bit more so I could see what would happen. Romance lovers will be happy with this!
